Stasys Juskus Gallery, opened in 1990, is the first private gallery of professional art in Lithuania. Located in the very heart of Vilnius Old Town, within the precinct of Vilnius Castles, the Gallery sought to set up a unique oasis of culture at the foot of Gediminas Hill from the very start. The business objectives of the Gallery include the promotion of classic fine arts tradition in Lithuania and the representation of classic fine arts and contemporary painting adhering to classic traditions.

Stasys Juskus Gallery displays and sells the art works of only renowned and prominent Lithuanian painters, the art works the majority of which have already acquired museum value. The main objective of the Gallery is to make overwhelming and aesthetically charged Lithuanian painting more comprehensible and accessible for all people. Chamber premises of the Gallery regularly host personal, collective and thematic exhibitions of the outstanding classics and contemporary painters. All exhibitions are widely covered by mass media, TV and Internet.
Stasys Juskus Gallery engages not only in the exhibition arrangement of the famous painters but also in the marketing of paintings. Gallery experts provide consulting on the issues of art to the collectors and enterprises interested in investing into painting and collecting private collections. Stasys Juskus Gallery also provides assistance in selecting and purchasing the art works of preferred artists, evaluates the collections and may forecast the growth of the determined value.

Stasys Juskus Gallery holds exhibitions not only in its premises but also in other Lithuanian cities and abroad. Lithuanian painting classics presented by the Gallery were successfully exhibited in the UN headquarters in New York (US), as well as in Finland and Poland. With the help from Stasys Juskus Gallery, works of art of classic Lithuanian painting have been acquired by well-known Lithuanian collectors, art lovers from America, Japan, Hong Kong and numerous European countries. The Gallery has already arranged the total of over 150 personal and collective thematic exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad.

Educative Activities

Right from its establishment, the aim of Stasys Juskus Gallery was to create a kind of cultural centre of music, dance and literature at the foot of Gediminas Hill in Vilnius. Plenaries, classic music concerts and other types of events are often organised in the courtyard of Stasys Juskus Gallery.
The location of the Gallery in the neighbourhood of Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts could be considered a lucky coincidence. This enables the Gallery not only to expand its artistic course of business and to keep track of contemporary painting vibrations, but also to keep in close contact with the professors and lecturers of the Academy. Quite a number of them have already become permanent artists of the Gallery.
In-line with its mission, Stasys Juskus Gallery is regularly taking part in the shaping of high culture and carries out the following educational and cultural activities in cooperation with the professorate of the Academy of Fine Arts: it arranges lectures for schoolchildren and students, seminars for businesspeople, engages in charity campaigns by allocating support for art-related projects and granting one-time scholarships. The Gallery also acted in partnership with the Ministry of Education in the implementation of artistic training programme for schoolchildren. During the first year after the Independence Restoration, Stasys Juskus Gallery and its artists gave a present of 23 paintings to the then Supreme Soviet.
