Soon after Birštonas was granted the status of the official resort, the healing site building was erected in the town. Healing with mud was a significant event in Birštonas’ history. In order to exploit this opportunity of healing with mud, in 1927 "Tulpės" sanatorium mud healing sites were built and they are still operating today. Next to the old buildings, a new modern water healing site was built in 2007. This healing site offers a range of water treatments.
