Description
A small cosy courtyard of the Astronomical Observatory is adorned by the 18th century Observatory building decorated with the signs of Zodiac and lines of Latin inscriptions. “Hinc itur ad astra” (“From here the way leads to the stars”) is one of them. On the left side of the western building, which used to house the VU pharmacy and training hall for pharmacists, a memorial plaque is fixed to commemorate the VU Rector and Head of the Observatory, a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences in Paris and a member of the Royal Society in London, Marcin Poczobutt.
