Description

Pypliai hill-fort A reminder of the honourable past of Lithuania is the Pypliai hill-fort (10th-16th centuries), looming on the left bank of the Nemunas not far from the mouth of the Nevėžis. On its southwestern side, there is a 6-metres-high embankment, from which wonderful views open up. The confluence of the Nemunas and Nevėžis as well as the Raudondvaris church are visible. In the fields to the south and east from the hill-fort, archaelogists have found the remains of a neolithics encampment and a homestead dating from the 10-th-15th centuries.
