DECLARATION
of the Rally of Citizens of May 26, 2012 in Vilnius
We, the citizens who have gathered to this Rally in Vilnius today, hereby declare:

- we want to live in a free and dignified state of Lithuania,
- we will not allow trampling civil dignity and honour any more,
- we will not permit turning Lithuania into a Little Russia,
- we will protect our democratic Republic, along with its values and constitutional regime,
- we will fight for our own rights and freedoms as well as those of our children and parents,
- we will oppose dictatorship, violent acts of the authorities and the usurpation of the state,
- we shall not tolerate public lies and will defend the freedom of speech,
- we will not collaborate with the authorities as long as they're lying and committing acts of violence,
- we will strive to return the state to its citizens, the Motherland to every Lithuanian of the world,
- we will do everything so that after the parliamentary elections, which are due this fall, the people of Lithuania will be represented by brave, honest people who will be loyal to the Republic of Lithuania and respectful of its citizens.
We allege that on the morning of the 17th of May this year, the authorities crossed the line and encroached on the constitutional regime of the state, the fundamental values of democracy and the common existence of the citizens. Today, the violent acts of the authorities are followed by lies, intimidations and manipulations of people.
Hence, we demand:
- ceasing the blatant lies and violence immediately,
- disclosing the names of those who had ordered the violent acts of May the 17th and those who approved of such orders: the officials who issued the orders, committed the acts of violence and approved of them must be revoked from duty and prosecuted.
Unless our demands are met, we will form an independent public commission to probe into the crimes of the authorities. We will take care of the victims of the violence of the authorities and the various structures.
The President of the state must finally make up her mind and give an answer to the society as to whom her allegiance lies with today: the Republic of Lithuania and its citizens, or the violent structures of power.
We shall not back down.

Till toppen
